Powerway PV Tracker, the first photovoltaic tracking project in Iraq officially put into operation

On June 16th local time, a completion ceremony was held for the 2.5MW photovoltaic power station project in Iraq Region 9, which was undertaken by China Energy Construction Gezhouba Group and supplied with photovoltaic tracking systems by Guangdong Baowei New Energy.

The General Counsel of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, the Director of the Renewable Energy Bureau, the First Vice President of the Basra Oil Company of the Ministry of Petroleum and others attended the celebration and expressed high praise and congratulations on the completion and commissioning of the project.

The power station of this project is an off-grid energy storage power supply system. It is the first ground-based photovoltaic power station in Iraq and uses a photovoltaic tracker system. It is a benchmark demonstration project of common concern to the Iraqi Ministry of Petroleum and the Ministry of Electricity.

This project uses PowerFit-Blade, the latest multi-point drive tracking system of Powerway New Energy, and a double-row layout structure of components; even in the harsh environment of strong winds and sand with a high wind speed of 45m/s, the bracket system can still operate smoothly and stand firm. As the project is in a sandy environment, the owner needs to install a component cleaning robot. The Powerway engineering team designed the track and set the cleaning mode according to the cleaning robot, which greatly facilitated the work of the future operation and maintenance team.

The control and communication systems of the tracker are all based on the latest sixth-generation system from Baowei, which supports debugging on mobile devices. This function provides great convenience for project debugging. Operation and maintenance engineers no longer need to use laptops to access devices one by one, but can easily debug by wirelessly accessing the tracker through mobile devices.

The general consultant of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity and his delegation visited the power plant project. In the power plant showroom, the operation and maintenance engineer demonstrated PowerSmart One, a SCADA system independently developed by Powerway. The system integrates multiple technical applications of smart photovoltaic power plants. With the help of a graphical interface, key information in different areas can be monitored intuitively. At the same time, PowerSmart One collects environmental information through sensors to realize an automatic control tracking system to reduce the risk of extreme weather. The delegation was very satisfied with the intelligent systems of Powerway and other suppliers of the project, and had high expectations for China's intelligent products.

The project is located in an oil and military controlled area, so the product requirements are very strict. The equipment faces many challenges such as harsh desert temperatures, strong winds and sand, high salinity, and signal interference in military areas. The Baowei New Energy project team actively responded to the customer's design standards and needs, delivered products on schedule, and provided installation assistance to ensure that the power station was put into operation as scheduled.

The successful delivery and commissioning of the project has also attracted great attention from all sectors of society, including the Iraqi government, the Ministry of Petroleum, the Ministry of Electricity, foreign investors and local developers. The Iraqi side will also promote this project as a model project, laying the foundation for the subsequent vigorous development of photovoltaic project construction.
